UniPixel Announces 23rd Design Win of 2016 for 14-inch Consumer Market Laptop Program

UniPixel, Inc., a provider of advanced touch solutions to the touchscreen and flexible electronics markets, today announced it has been awarded a 14-inch consumer market laptop program from an existing customer.

UniPixel’s XTouch touchscreen sensors and Diamond Guard hardcoat will be featured in the new device to maximize touchscreen responsiveness and seamlessly support the Microsoft Pen protocol. This marks the 23rdprogram awarded to UniPixel since the beginning of calendar 2016.

Jeff Hawthorne, president and chief executive officer of UniPixel, said, “The active order pipeline for 2017 continues to build with the award of this new consumer market laptop program. Given there is a six- to nine-month time frame for a design win to translate into revenue, we believe that this increased pipeline is an important step toward generating more consistent revenue growth. Winning this order brings to seven the number of consumer design wins and 23 total design wins since the beginning of 2016. The growing number of design wins gives us increased confidence that the market is moving toward our technological strengths as end-user consumers increasingly demand high-end touchscreen and active stylus capabilities.”

Mr. Hawthorne concluded, “We believe that the Microsoft Surface Pro product is igniting an evolution, in both the commercial and consumer markets, in expanding the capabilities of pen/stylus usage on computing devices that will expand the possibilities of end-users to do things that were previously not possible. We believe that our products can directly address the evolving needs of these markets.”

Volume production for this program is expected to commence in the second quarter of calendar 2017. The announcement of this new product win, plus the programs originally acquired in the April 2015 acquisition, the others awarded this year and the one product announced late in 2015, brings to 27 the total number of computing devices for which the UniPixel touch sensor provides the touch experience and stylus writing experience in tablets, notebooks and 2-in-1 laptops.
