HUD Lowers Crash Chance by 70%

A head-up display, developed at Scotland’s Glasgow Caledonian University, alerts drivers to the location of other cars in poor visibility conditions.

In a simulation, the HUD highlights other vehicles within a 400m distance on the windscreen. It also informs the driver if it is safe to change lanes. Response times were found to improve when using the HUD, and the probability of collisions was lowered by an average of 70%.

Information is projected onto the windscreen.
