Waitrose Runs LCD shelf edge Trial

High end UK supermarket, Waitrose, is undertaking a 12 week trial of shelf-edge labelling that is using specially cut-down full colour LCDs that can show video. The trial will take place at the Trumpington store in Cambridge and started at the beginning of February. The company said that the labels had already been used for special promotions for Valentines’ Day, Mothers’ day and will be used for Easter promotions.

Waitrose said that it will capture customer feedback from the trial through surveys and sales data to evaluate its potential before making any decisions on if and how it might take this further.

If anybody knows who is supplying these LCDs, we’d be intrigued to find out. (BR)
