Super Bowl LI to be Captured in UHD & 8K

The Super Bowl in the US on 5th Ferbruary will be show with a mixture of UltraHD and 8K cameras. Fox Sports will use 38 UltraHD cameras to create a 360 degree view of the stadium that producers can use to create ‘virtual cameras’ (which is the technology that Intel showed at CES – BR). 32 other cameras will be used for other views. The virtual camera clips currently take around two minutes to process, so cannot be used live. There are new overhead cameras and players will use a new RFID-based player tracking system.

Despite the high quality of the capture of the content, it will be broadcast in 1080P.
