The US-based cable TV provider, Layer3 TV, is starting to provide a selection of live and on-demand 4K ultraHD content to subscribers. One of the first offerings will be the BBC documentary, six-part nature series, Planet Earth II, which is available in both 4K resolution and HDR and will start on 24th April. Access to the Nasa TV channel in 4K UHD is also being planned by Layer3. Layer3 is reportedly joining the small but expanding handful of OTT broadcasters who offer 4K programming in the US, namely DirecTV, Dish Network and Comcast.
