Cybernet Fixes OLED Mura

Cybernet System of Japan has developed a system that can correct for Mura in OLEDs and has been jointly developed with a chip maker according to OLEDNet. The system uses a camera to analyse the performance of a panel and then download correction data which is then fed to the display drivers.

The company is reported to be making the driver chips available by June of 2017.

Analyst Comment

We have reported in detail on the technology developed by Ignis Innovation of Canada (Can Ignis Enable the OLED TV Market?) and we have also reported that Ignis has done a deal with LG for OLED correction technology. (Ignis Signs Patent License With LGD). With luck, Cybernet will be at Display Week this year and we can explore how its technology is different from that offered by Ignis. Either way, there is no dispute that this kind of technology is absolutely critical for the development of OLED displays because of the sensitivity of the OLED architecture and the variability of the output of each pixel after manufacture.
