The Society for Information Display (SID), in collaboration with IHS, today announced the final program for its Market Focus Conference on Touch, part of the Business Track being held during Display Week 2015 at the San Jose Convention Center from May 31-June 5. This one-day event on June 3 will feature industry-leading companies providing insights into the latest developments in the touch technology industry.

Leaders from key companies within the touch industry ecosystem will discuss the growing array of touch technologies and their use in existing and emerging applications as well as the opportunities ahead. The conference will include Yoshiharu Nakajima of Japan Display Inc., who will give a Special Display Manufacturer Address on “The Latest Direction of Pixel Eyes Development.” IHS Technology analyst Calvin Hsieh will delve into the evolution of the touch market and the current state of the automotive touch industry.

The rest of the conference is separated into four sessions, each of which will include a panel discussion:

Finding the Right Touch Technology
This session will examine new and innovative solutions in materials, as well as in-cell and on-cell technologies, and how they are challenging the dominance of ITO-based touch solutions, as well as the advancements in touch controller ICs. The audience will hear from FocalTech, Synaptics, Atmel, Cima NanoTech and Nitto Denko representatives.

Existing and Emerging Touch Applications in Transition
Focusing on traditional and emerging applications for touch including mobile, PCs, wearables, automotive and signage, speakers from Neonode, Sentons, FlatFrog and DNP Corporation USA will share their insight on the current state of the industry and future prospects, with a panel discussion.

After the first two conference sessions, Paul Chen, CTO of GIS will present a Special Touch Manufacturer Address.

The Battle for ITO Alternatives
Featured speakers from Nuovo Film, Canatu, Cambrios, Innova Dymanics, and Flexible Opto-Electronics Laboratory will discuss the pros and cons, costs, and manufacturability of ITO alternatives, such as silver nano-wire, carbon nanotube and metal mesh technologies.

Extensions of Touch
The final session will host presenters from Tactus Technology, Immersion, Novasentis, NextInput and Wacom discussing user interface technologies that can serve as alternatives to, or extensions of, traditional touch technologies, including gesture, voice, stylus and haptic feedback.
