This means that NumWorks is the first totally transparent graphing calculator: all the knowledge it brings together is available through an online Creative Commons license. Likewise, all the technical diagrams can be accessed on the site and, unlike other devices, NumWorks can be taken to pieces and put back together again.

Users can add their own functionalities and the open source community will also have the opportunity to suggest improvements which will make NumWorks even more efficient and long-lasting.

Here is NumWorks, the first graphing calculator that helps users understand the awesome world of mathematics faster and better! It will awaken and fulfill the potential of all high school math students which is not the case with the overly complex devices on the market today.

This educational object has been designed with teachers and students in mind. NumWorks features the ergonomics of familiar products such as smartphones and game consoles thus enabling them to start using it straight away.

Making mathematics fun and speeding up the learning process.

NumWorks is the result of five highly enthusiastic engineers meeting up and working together. They spent over a year in R&D: the first phase of their work involved reading through all the high school mathematics programs as well as years and years of previous curriculums to ensure they were meeting the needs of today’s market.

Starting from scratch, they completely overhauled graphing calculator software and reprogrammed, stage by stage, all of the graphing calculator functions. The design was focused on providing users with the most intuitive experience possible. The keyboard was split up into three separate theme-based sections: the navigation section which enables you to choose the graphing calculator menus more easily; advanced functions and a numeric keypad with its buttons conveniently spaced out enabling fast and accurate use. A “Home” button has been added allowing users to return directly to the main menu, and last, but not least, there’s an “ON/OFF” button to turn the graphing calculator on and off in just one click.

There are only six essential applications for high school students on the NumWorks main menu: calculations, functions, sequences, statistics, probabilities and regressions. The applications were designed with teachers and are compliant with the educational programs of all high school sections. These functions are clearly presented: no abbreviations or incomprehensible acronyms! The functions can be directly accessed from the main menu without any complicated button-pressing needed. NumWorks is compliant with educational examination standards and regulations.

While Casio, Texas Instruments and the like spend thousands of hours every year training teachers and students how to use their devices, familiarization with the NumWorks graphing calculator doesn’t even require a User Guide! About NumWorks

Founded in mid-2016, NumWorks is the product of Romain Goyet’s imagination. A graduate from École Polytechnique [a prestigious French academic institution], Romain’s career started with Apple in Cupertino. Fascinated by software, he returned to France and launched Applidium which quickly became the leader in terms of creating mobile applications. After selling that company, he decided to focus on hardware and, having kept the graphing calculator from his student days, he was amazed to see that such a flawed object designed for a noble subject had lasted 20 years. He then met Fred Potter, a pioneer in the field of connected objects, who helped him develop his project. After several weeks of discussing ideas and sharing thoughts, Romain founded NumWorks and launched the first graphing calculator which created a rupture in this field and breathed new life into mathematics.
