Philips used the Display Summit to show how it can deliver an SDR (standard dynamic range) video stream with metadata that can be used to derive an HDR (high dynamic range) image for an HDR-capable display. The company can do the reverse as well – deliver an HDR image that can be used on an SDR or HDR TV.
